AI regulation is moving fast. Multiple deadlines are approaching. Miss one and you could face fines up to €35M. Here is every major AI compliance deadline, sorted chronologically, with what you need to do before each one.

Missing AI compliance deadlines results in fines and enforcement actions. EU AI Act fines reach €35M or 7% of global turnover. Colorado ADMT law fines are up to $20,000 per violation (AG-enforced, no private right of action). NYC Local Law 144 fines are $500 for a first violation and $500-$1,500 for each subsequent violation. India DPDPA fines reach ₹250 crore (~$30M USD). The cost of compliance is almost always lower than the cost of non-compliance.
Any business that: (1) uses AI tools (even just ChatGPT or Copilot), (2) serves customers in regulated jurisdictions (EU, US states, India, etc.), or (3) processes personal data with AI algorithms. If in doubt: yes, these laws apply to you.

Confirm your EU AI Act Art. 50 transparency disclosures are already live — that deadline passed August 2, 2026
If you make AI-assisted consequential decisions about Colorado residents: prepare for the ADMT law (SB 26-189), effective January 1, 2027
If you use high-risk AI (Annex III) reaching EU users: work toward the December 2, 2027 EU AI Act deadline — do not wait
If you hire in NYC: NYC Local Law 144 is already in force
If you hire in Illinois: Illinois AIVIA is already in force (and the separate HB 3773 Human Rights Act amendment took effect January 1, 2026)
